Born into Aiye April 6, 1951 to John and Beatrice Campbell in Chicago Ill.  Through many life transitions, Fayomi came into the understanding of the Afrikan Tradition of Spirituality from Nigeria called Ifa; by way of the sound of the drums.
The sound of drums beating on the Southside of Chicago was not unusual in the context of the hearing of regular beats of Conga or Bata.  However, the sounds of Afrikan beats; language in songs in 1965 when Afrikan American people were Colored and Negro's was compelling.  It was the sound of the drums of Ile Ife temple on 31st street and South Park Avenue that brought a 14 year old girl to its doorway beginning the journey back home to Ifa.
The journey of transitons brought her to her first Yoruba name when Baba Alabi called her Oginda( Abegunde) Oba and through divination told her that she was Omo Sango, a child of the Orisa Sango.  This began her experiences of truth and this wonderful transition and journey back to herself.
One of the layovers in this journey began with a marriage to writer Larry Harding.  Author of the poetic works called Genesis.  She had two children of this union Ashanti Jtaune Harding and Neshing Lataune Harding.  Sixteen years later came the birth of her son Afolabi Olorunfunmi-Jason A. Cynova, son of the late Alvin Cynova and recent marriage to Babalawo Ifakolade Obafemi of Chicago, Ill
Fayomi is a Columbia College graduate; holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Education with emphasis in Dance Education, minoring in Creative writing.
Fayomi also help published a local union newsletter,"Sweet Home Chicago" for the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, local 3652.
